Book Gluttony! Are your eyes bigger than your book belly? Do you have a habit of buying up books far quicker than you could possibly read them? Have you had to curb your book buying habits until you can catch up with yourself? Or are you a controlled buyer, only purchasing books when you have run out of things to read?
Haha.. interesting question.. When i'm in a book store, i'd usually able to find at least a couple of new books that i'm tempted to buy.. however, what i end up buying would depends on whether how desperate i was (ie i've totally run out of things to read).. how badly i wanted that book (eg i've been searching for it for a while).. and how much i've already spend that week/month.. but dont congratulate me yet - even if i have not run out of things to read and have spend way too much on books already but still have the itch to get new materials - i'd go to the 2nd-hand bookstore & stock up from there..
however with the booksale-craze that's been going on for the last few mths, plus my recent interactions with GR folks, any control that i have managed to placed upon myself on book-buying has gone out the window.. ;p and i have my empty purse to prove it.. (and i still want to go to that big bad wolf booksale to check out more books.. *shame*)
One thing for sure.. it truly is difficult to remember to control yourself when it come to buying books.. if only books are not that expensive or that i have un-limited budget (& space).. sigh.. so wishful thinking, i know.... hehe..

For One More Day by Mitch Albom
My review
rating: 3 of 5 stars
The story revolved around Charles "Chick" Benetto, who tried to kill himself after giving up on life. However, he gets "one more day" with his mother, who passed away years ago which turned his life around.
The book is written as a story told by Chick to a third person (writer), supported by the writer's research on Chick & what happened that fateful day.
I liked the underlying message of the power of Mother's love in this book. However, something is missing from this story - there's no "a-ha moments" in this story that could have made this a great one.
All in all, i still prefer Tuesday with Morrie to this.

Sometimes i get worried with all these responsibilities that i have.. who am i to shoulder them ? what makes You think i know what to do ? or that i can do it well ? who's to say i wont make a mess of thing ? half of the time i'm so way over my head that i almost forgot what is it that i'm doing... is this how it's supposed to be? hmmmm........ ;p

"She told the audience that one of the best things about books is that they are an interactive art form: that while the author may describe in some detail how a character looks, it is the reader's imagination that completes the image, making it his or her own....She talked about the tactile joys of reading, the feel of a page beneath one's fingers; the elegance of typeface on a page. She talked about how people complain that they don't have time to read, and reminded them that if they gave up half an hour of television a day in favor of reading, they could finish twenty-five books a year." - Home Safe by Elizabeth Berg
I dont know how other people reads, but i do agree that when i read, i would imagine how the character would look like, especially when it was well-written. So imagine how dissapointed i'd be if the books-made-into-movie are not able to translate that charactor for me. For example, i've read Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, and Tom Hanks sooooo do not fit the description of Robert Langdon. I imagined him to look more like a younger version of Harisson Ford. Well, i guess they couldnt find one who looked like that.. hehe..
Anyway, my reading has hit a wall these days.. a little too busy with work, plus been fiddling waaay too much with my new phone & goodreads, instead of reading.. hehe.. can i reach the target of 50 per year..? I'm already at 18, since a week ago...
I should add this book to my goodreads TBR list.. man, if only getting hold of these books are as easy as listing them out.. hehe.. there are loads of items out there that i would like to read, but time & money are my enemies..

Which is worse?
Finding a book you love and then hating everything else you try by that author, or
Reading a completely disappointing book by an author that you love?
Now that's a hard one.. I think that it's hard enough to find an author that you love in the first place. At least if it's an author that you like/love, one dissapointing book is in a way, not that bad.. sort of.. but i'd still feel dissapointed though..
But at times, you can't be relying on your favourite author all the time - they might not have any new materials yet.. or their books tend to revolved around the same scenarios, gets boring at times.. which means a new potential-favourite-author-to-be can be a really exciting thing to find.. so to have that "high" taken away from you coz you hate everything else that author wrote.. man, that is worse....

Wohoo.. i survived Earth Hour.. sort of..
I did switched off all of the lights & fans & tv, except for my porch light.. really..
... and went out to get dinner instead.. haha..
Of course, i'm not one of those folks who'd switched every single light in the house when i'm home.. granted, i do live alone, so i get to control what i do switch on.. on the bad side tho, i do leave my back-porch light on 24 hrs, but then that's coz the electrician did such a crummy job that the timer doesnt work.. only the front-porch does.
and i suppose i should avoid falling asleep in front of the tv during the weekends ie leaving the tv on throughout the nite. or leaving the pc on either. One has to do their part for the Mother Earth right..
Do i sleep with the lights on? Now that's a tougher question to answer. Since i was young, i'm one of those poeple who wont fall asleep unless the lights are turned off. But for the past few years, i guess you can say that i've changed.
it kinda started during that phase in my life where everything seems to be crashing down on me.. so when the light go off, everything gets heavier & bigger & kinda goes round & round my head.. it's not fear of the dark, i may not have the name for it but it's fear alright..
so cant sleep anyway.. hence having the lights on to do whatever i can to occupy the mind & just doze off when i'm tired without giving the mind a chance to dwell on things.. some days it worked, some days it doesnt... either way, i'd wake up like a zombie & just will myself to get through the day..
but i can now say that i can fall asleep with or without the lights off. hehe..
I'm all in to support the Earth hour today & switch off but...
what about the fan or air conditioner ?
tv & computers ?
i have a time-sensory porch light. does that mean i'm not switching off?
hmm.. quite the questions to ponder...

I've gotten a little book-crazy over the last few days, as there's been a couple of bookstore wars that's been going on... which btw, i only happened to know towards the end of it.. sob sob.. oh well, i didnt have the money for it earlier anyway.. haha.. Naked in Death by JD Robb - I've been collecting a lot of Nora Roberts' material over the years coz i quite like her style. I havent read the Death series yet, so will see whether this series are worth looking into. Veronika Decides To Die by Paulo Coelho The Post-Birthday World by Lional Shriver - I really like review/synopsis given, so am expecting this to be a good read.. i hope.. Letters for Emily by Camron Wright - About an Alzheimer disease patient compiling a book of poem for his granddaughther, a tale of power of love and family. Mister Monday - I know this is a YA book, but i've heard so much about this book that i wanted to see what it's all about... hehe..
Since i went to Times book clearance sale first before MPH, i think i preferred MPH's selections.. They happen to have more newer books & more choices, even compared to MPH's own book clearance last year.. plus the location this year is much better. But it was a headache trying to sort thru all those piles of books, trying to find some gem of a read...
Anyway, there's a few books that i've been eyeing, which was i didnt find (obviously), but there's were other interesting ones that i did... with me, as i normally buy used books anyway, i do try to expend the selection of books to buy & try not to stick to one particular genre.. however, this way you end up getting hit & misses, as to whether the book is good or totally not your type..etc.. one of the reasons that i sometimes just play save & get mills&boons-romance-novels-type instead.. they're normally pretty predictable, always have happy-endings & most of the time provides an enjoyable light read...sometimes, that's all you can ask for in a book.. hehe.. especially good when you're in between reading materials too..
i am however, a little impartial to chick lits.. some i can take, but most i cant stand..
How i choose a book can be as random as it gets.. sometimes coz of the cover or the title.. most of the time it'll depend on the synopsis/review at the back cover (which usually irritates me when the book has none..).. too small/big fonts can also put you off a book.. and last, but not least, the price. i wont normally get a hardcover book, just coz of the price.. unless it's those long-awaited-for series like Harry Porter..
Anyway, here's some that i've just gotten & cant wait to get started:
Anyway.. i'm collecting my Twilight dvd tomorrow, so I just might end up pushing all of these books aside for Edward.. haha.. I may be crazy for Edward Cullen, but probably not that insane.. yet.... *wink*...

Saw this question posted on this link BTT :
How do you arrange your books on your shelves? Is it by author, by genre, or you just put it where it falls on?
I just managed to splurge on a new book case yesterday, which i'm so totally in love with.. somehow, vivencia (or i suppose in the states you'd know them as 'pottery barn') always seems to have the exact furniture that i'd be dreaming of (& some which i didnt know that i'd want..hehe) that i just cant imagine getting it elsewhere. Well, i could, for a cheaper price no doubt, but much much less quality.
Anyway, at the moment, my books are pretty much all over the house. By my bedside, in boxes & some DIY shelves right next to the tv. I dont normally organise my books in any particular order, usually it'd go by sizes rather than author. Saw this website showing samples of rainbow bookshelves, but i doubt i have enough of similar coloured book to build one convincing-looking rainbow bookshelves.. haha..
So any suggestions before i start re-organising my books ?

I read just about anything i can get my hand onto really, but given the prices for books over here usually costs me an arm and a leg, i do try to kerb my spending to books which i think (remember, the key word here is think) that is good. Therefore, a book doesnt have to be a bestseller or a great literature piece to be in my list, so who cares if you laugh at my choice of materials. ha ha..

Stacks of books were piled high all over the house - not just arranged in near rows on bookshelves, the way other people kept them, oh no! The books in Mo and Meggie's house were stacked under tables, on chairs, in the corners of the rooms. There were books in the kitchen and books in the lavatory. Books on the tv set and in the wardrobe, small pile of books, tall pile of books, books thick and thin, books old and new.
p/s: i do think it's about time i get myself a bookcase. I'm thinking of a narrow type of shelves rather than those normally bulky or deep type of shelving. That way i dont have to double stack my books & i'd be able to see the titles instead of moving them around. Now, the question is where do i find such a thing.. hmmm...

I remembered how hard it was.. Seeing someone, who had had history with you, who at one point meant something to you.. "walking down the aisle" (well, the term doesnt apply in a Malay wedding, but you get what i mean, right..) with someone else.. Even if you no longer have feelings for the person.. It's hard.
But jodoh di tangan Tuhan. He knows what's best for you, even if you dont understand it at the time. or ever.
Honey, you're one strong babe.. That chapter of your life is over & dont let it get you down. As it is, you've got a new man already.. *wink*...
p/s: Now, if only i was as lucky as you to have a new man of my own.. There's gotta be somebody for me too, right? right ? sigh..

Gotta Be Somebody
This time, I wonder what it feels like
To find the one in this life, the one we all dream of
But dreams just aren't enough
So I'll be waiting for the real thing, I'll know it by the feeling
The moment when we're meeting, will play out like a scene
Straight off the silver screen
So I'll be holding my own breath, right up 'til the end
Until that moment when, I find the one that I'll spend forever with
'Cause nobody wants to be the last one there
'Cause everyone wants to feel like someone cares
Someone to love with my life in their hands
There's gotta be somebody for me like that
'Cause nobody wants to do it on their own
And everyone wants to know they're not alone
There's somebody else that feels the same somewhere
There's gotta be somebody for me out there
Tonight, out on the street, out in the moonlight
And dammit this feels too right, it's just like déjà vu
Me standing here with you
So I'll be holding my own breath, could this be the end
Is it that moment when, I find the one that I'll spend forever with
'Cause nobody wants to be the last one there
'Cause everyone wants to feel like someone cares
Someone to love with my life in their hands
There's gotta be somebody for me like that
'Cause nobody wants to do it on their own
And everyone wants to know they're not alone
There's somebody else that feels the same somewhere
There's gotta be somebody for me out there
You can't give up, looking for a diamond in the rough
You never know, when it shows up, make sure you're holding on
'Cause it could be the one, the one you're waiting on
'Cause nobody wants to be the last one there
And everyone wants to feel like someone cares
Someone to love with my life in their hands
There's gotta be somebody for me, ohhh
Nobody wants to do it on their own
And everyone wants to know they're not alone
There's somebody else that feels the same somewhere
There's gotta be somebody for me out there
Nobody wants to be the last one there
'Cause everyone wants to feel like someone cares
There's somebody else that feels the same somewhere
There's gotta be somebody for me out there

I just heard from my mum, about a boy in her tuition class..
Apparently, his grades has been dropping despite him being a pretty good student. My mum highlighted her concerns to the mother, asking whether he was sick or something.. She wasnt quite sure what was wrong & the docs kept saying that there's nothing wrong with him..
Since my mother just started classes for the year this week, she was so shocked to find that the doctor has declared that the boy's hearing is totally beyond repair (if i'm not mistaken, it's one side of the ear, not both ).. & this poor boy, who's only in Form 3 will now be well, requiring the use of hearing aids & such.. he & the mother is totally heartbroken over it, especially the fact that the doctors was unable to detect it in time to help the boy.. I suppose one of the incident that lead to the discovery was when the boy never heard his own niece crying out loud, while he was sitting next to her..
Anyway, i wish all the best for the kid.. Hope he & his family stay strong in facing this challenge.. You never know, mungkin ada hikmah di sebaliknya, hanya Allah saja yang tahu..

Pray tell me where do i find such a guy.. ahaks..
Your Everything - by Keith Urban
The first time I looked in your eyes I knew
That I would do anything for you
The first time you touched my face I felt
Like I've never felt with anyone else
I wana give back what you've givin' to me
And I wanna witness all of your dreams
Now that you've shown me who I really am
I wanna be more then just your man
I wanna be the wind that fills your sails
And be the hand that lifts your veil
And be the moon that moves your tide
The sun coming up in your eyes
Be the wheels that never rust
And be the spark that lights you up
All that you've been dreaming of and more
So much more, I wanna be your everything...
When you wake up, I'll be the first thing you see
And when it gets dark you can reach out for me
I'll cherish your words and I'll finish your thoughts
And I'll be your compass baby, when you get lost
I wanna be the wind that fills your sails
And be the hand that lifts your veil
And be the moon that moves your tide
The sun coming up in your eyes
Be the wheels that never rust
And be the spark that lights you up
All that you've been dreaming of and more
So much more, I wanna be your everything...
Be the wheels that never rust
And be the spark that lights you up
All that you've been dreaming of and more
So much more, I wanna be your everything...
I wanna be your everything

I'm backk, Alhamdullillah... :) Learn! Learn! Learn!..
As one of the 'makcik' from my package said, i don't exactly know how to express my feelings about my experience so i'll just have to say that you have to experienced it yourselves.
But what i can say is that it is easy.. and it is hard, very hard.. emotionally, spiritually, mentally.. the things that happens around you, just shows you how great Allah is.. and how small you are.. and that truly only those chosen by Allah are able to go..
however, to those who have met the criteria to perform hajj, i'd advice you to go.. go now while you are still young, energetic.. it requires a lot of strength to do all that walking, seriously.. benda wajib nih kita kena buat jugak..
Also, it's not enough to just have the money & health to think that you are ready to go..
please learn as much as you can before you go. You'll get all kinds of "advice" from all sorts of people, even contradicting ones, so you better be sure you know what you're doing.. We're doing this once is a lifetime (more if Allah permits) and that one time, we want to do the right thing.. do the best..
Insyallah, kalau niat kita baik, Allah permudahkan..

The closest thing to "i love you" that Asou-kun had ever told Aya-chan...awww, sweet sangat..:
Is it okay if i say what i'm feeling right now?
I dont know what's gonna happen in the future.
But right now, what i'm feeling is 100% not a lie.
I can say that with confidence.
For me, as long as it's you that saying it, it doesnt matter how slowly you say it, i'll still listen.
If you cant talk over the phone, then i'll come to see you, just like this.
I'm not a dolphin. You, you're also not a dolphin.
If you want to walk, no matter how slow it'll be, i will walk with you.
Right now, i might not be that reliable.
One day, maybe i'll be able to help.
Things cant be the same as they were before, but there's this kind of feeling that's linking us together.
I dont think that we're living in different worlds.
I.. with regards to you...
I like you.
Maybe.
I like you, maybe. (smilling)
Probably.

4. Enjoy the simple things
5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of
time with him or her!
6. The tears happen:
Endure, grieve, and move on.
The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourself.
LIVE while you are alive.
7 Surround yourself with what you love:
Whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.
Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don’t take guilt trips.
Take a trip to the mall, even to a foreign country, but NOT to where the
guilt is
10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
And if you don’t send this to at least four people - who cares? But do
share this with someone.

(QS> Al Baqarah 186)
1. Do'a apabila datang bulan Ramadhan, dengan mengucapkan :
(HR. Ahmad dan An-Nasa'i).
3. Do'a dari orang berpuasa secara mutlak di bulan Ramadhan, karena kemuliaan waktu dan keadaan orang-orang yang berpuasa, lebih lagi dengan memperbanyak zikir. Yang paling utama adalah membaca Al-qur'an.
4. Menyengaja berdo'a dengan penuh semangat pada malam-malam sepuluh yang terakhir dengan harapan bertepatan dengan malam Lailatul Qadar, sebagaimana telah dishahih dari Nabi SAW bahwa Beliau mengajarkan do'a kepada Aisyah RA :
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌ تُحِبُّ العَفْوَفَاعْفُ عنَّي
Ya Allah, Sesungguhnya Engkau Maha Pemaaf dan menyukai maaf, maka maafkanlah aku".
Tidak shahih dalam hadits ini. "عَفُوٌ Setelah lafazh " " كَرِيْمٌ " kata Adapun tambahan
5. Do'a ketika berbuka:
6. Do'a ketika berbuka puasa pada suatu kaum, dengan do'a yang artinya :
"Telah berbuka orang-orang yang puasa disisi kalian, telah memakan makanan kalian orang-orang yang baik dan para malaikat bershalawat atas kalian".
7. Do'a Tatkala sahur
Tetapi tidak ada do'a khusus untuk hal ini, namun karena keumuman firman Allah:
وَبِاْلأَسْحَارِ هُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ
Dan ketika sahur mereka beristighfar. (QS. Adz-Dzaariyaat 18).
8. Do'a ketika keluar dari bulan Ramadhan.

Saw the news on the net.. Lee Eon, a.k.a Korean drama Coffee Prince's Hwang Min Yeop, died on Thursday (22 Aug) due to a motorcycle accident.. omg.. apparently he was on his way home after a party when the accident occured. And the saddest part was, he's only 27 yrs old.. Guess we never really know when our time will come huh..
i so loved Coffee Prince.. It's basically a love story between Han Kyul, the rich, carefree heir & hardworking, down-on-her-luck, boyish looking Eun Chan.. They started falling for each other while working at Han Kyul's coffee shop, which his grandmother forced him to managed. However, chaos arises as Han Kyul who didn't know that Eun Chan's a girl, tries to deny his feeling for her..
Btw, Min Yeop is one of the "prince" who works in the same coffee shop, as well as Eun Chan's sister's boyfriend.. fuh, what a mouthful.. ;p

What happened to us? You know? I don't know who I am anymore. Or how I got here. I miss who I used to be. I wanna have a home again, you know? And real friends. You know, the kind of friendships we used to believe in. I miss that. And I miss you. I guess I miss all of it. Does any of that make any sense?

Sometimes when you're young you think nothing can hurt you. It's like being invincible. Your whole life is ahead of you and you have big plans. Big plans. Find your perfect match, the one that completes you. But as you get older you realize it's not always that easy. It's not until the end of your life that you realize that the plans you made were simply plans. Because at the end when you're looking back instead of forward, you want to believe that you made the most of what life gave you. You want to believe that you are leaving something good behind. You want it all to have mattered.

Surah Al-Kautsar
Perkara yg baik kita amalkan slalu.
Wassallam.

How do you feel if you came face-to-face with people from your past? People, who at one time, was a big part of your life .. or heck, just came across their pictures, of their happy lives, with someone else.. ? I mean, chances are, since they were your 'friend', they're also friends of your friends..meaning that chances of that happening are pretty good.. we somehow dont run thaaat far off from those few circles of friends that we have.. so yeah, you kinda never managed to get rid of them from your life...
These incidents are not made intentionally.. to specifically taunt you for some twisted reasons.. most of the time anyway, ha ha..
But when that happens, do you walk away ?
Do you take a walk down memory lane & think about the what-ifs ?
Do you resent them for being happy with other people instead of you?
or it just makes no difference to you maybe?
But, then, who am i kidding..? They may had meant something in my life at one time & that will never go away. That's just not life that i see for myself, as hard as it was to let go.. it was just not meant to be..
But man, if only la my life even makes sense right now, at least it wouldnt be so hard to not be jealous of other people's life.. ha..

What Your Taste in Chocolate Says About You |
![]() You are sophisticated, modern, and high class. Your taste is refined, but you are not picky. You are often the first to try something new. You are friendly, witty, and likable. You charm is overwhelming. People are enchanted by you. You have a comeback for anything. Because of this, you seem flippant at times. You love being by yourself and thinking. Developing your own theories and ideas is fun. You feel lost when you're forced to be social. Being with other people can be lonely for you. |

At this new company of mine, we've had to attend quite a number of trainings. So the other day, we had to attend a coaching training. However, what stayed in my mind was my discussion with a colleague after that session.
She was telling me about a similar training she attended before. I wasn't that surprised about that fact but because that training was organised by her church. Of course, I've already known her as a pretty religious girl, very active in church & so on. Anyway, she said that her church do organised a lot of these kinds of thing - leadership training, coaching etc. And she's told me on a number of occasion about her pastor whom she looked up to, who always put himself at their level, keeping abreast with the latest songs, slangs, lifestyle etc just to ensure that he's able to approach them. In fact, the church is organised in such a way very much like a business organisation - with a vision casters & a few levels of managers.
Listening to her, & not for the first time, makes me wonder... just look at how organised these people are & how stategic their approach towards youngsters are. Now, comparing that to our own religion, man.. bukan apa, buat malu ada ler.. I mean, you get these people in robes, going house to house inviting them to the mosques but folks you forget.. you're targeting those people who are already going to the mosques instead of those "kutu's" by the roadside. Plus all those fights occured coz people are of different political view - i mean, what is that all about?
Come on la people.. if you want people to love Islam, to want to approach Islam.. you've got to show it la.. For example, that ustaz Ahkil Hayy.. mmg ustaz rock abih, but i think he has a point..
Anyway, that's just my 2-cent worth of input for tonite, for whatever that's worth.

Way back then, slides was the craze in the states.. So i've got boxes & boxes of slides of my travels then, which btw i'm not able to check out coz the projector is already broken.. :(
So, I'm looking for a device which will able to convert slides (I think it's 33mm types) into digital images.. A friend of mine found this on the net, but i doubt it's sold locally.

Erk.. had the scariest/weirdest dream last nite.. probably my fault as well, coz trying to watch a scary movie (Jangan Pandang Belakang) on Astro last nite.. watched it for abt 20mins, then thought i better not continue.. hehe.. karang sendiri takut, sapa nak tolong? ahaks..
Anyway, back to the dream.. i guess i was PD (since it's just been a couple of weeks back when i went there with my colleagues) or somewhere near a beach & some trees.. guess something happened, or some accident of sort, whereby me & 2 others got err.. killed kot.. and in a "Ghost Whisperer" style, my "ghost" went to search for my ex-colleague, trying to tell them what had happened to me..
I'm not the type to dwell on deathly matters, so the dream was kinda of an odd topic for me.. but then i could have been thinking abt those influx of local & foreign horror movies lately.. plus, i have heard some interesting ghost stories over lunch recently too.. hehe..
however, what i'm trying to really reflect upon is, how much do we really ponder over death.. people do say nothing clears your priority like death flashing across your mind.. and i was just thinking that if i die today, i don't think i have enough to carry me into the afterlife.. i mean, sure i try not to miss my prayers, i fast every now & then (other than ramadhan), i basically try to follow the rules.. but at times, i'm not sure if i'm truly there.. i dont dress properly e.g i still do the 3/4 sleeves & fitting clothes, my scarves are not always proper..i dont always check that my food are (truly) halal (ie i take for granted that it is, given that i live in this country..).. i dont always listen/join the 'ceramah's or religious talks.. i watch way too much tv & listen to too much music.. i dont always listen to my parents.. well, you get the picture..
and to really understand our roles & responsibilities to Allah in this world, well, it can be overwhelmingly scary to realise how far you are from the ideal.. at the end of it, i can only try my best & hope that my "niat"/intention is enough to win me a spot in 'syurga'(heaven)...insya allah...

"There comes a time when every life goes off course. In this desperate moment you must choose your direction. Who will you be? Will you fight to stay on the path while others tell you who you are? Or will you label yourself? Will you be honored by your choice? Or will you embrace your new path? Will you let down your defenses and find solace in someone unexpected? Will you reach out? Will you face your greatest fears bravely or move forward with faith? Or will you succumb to the darkness in your soul? Each morning you choose to move forward or to simply give up.
