It really surprises me how some people cant accept the kpop phenomena. I mean, sure you can act dumb & deny all you want, but they are really here to stay. Is bashing them gonna get you anywhere? Will people stop listening to them just for the sake of supporting local artist? Trying to win not by playing the game but suppressing/kick out the competition? Is that how you want to play it?

Plus my interest may not be the same as you. I'm not crazy over yuna, but that doesnt mean that she's not good. I may be crazy over err.. Who ek.. Say KRU for instance, but not everyone is into hip hop & such.. Does that make them bad? Nope.

Opps time out!

Subhanallah... I mean how difficult is it to have a decent discussion, when you can even argue your point across!!!! Heck, i'm the worst at arguing but this is too much.

H: why do you like kpop so much?
Me: they're good, fun. The artists are Dedicated, impressive.cultural influence are still there.
H: you only see the good side they show on tv. Real korean are not that nice. Japanese are better.
Me: i may like their songs/drama, doesnt mean i like every single person. The one i do admire, are admired amongst korean themselves.
H: so you're saying local artist are corrupt?
Me: err not corrupt. Just that they dont work hard enough. And no humility.
H: but we do have artists who has had a breakthrough in us market. Still not impressed?
Me: sure. Miss nina, yuna, zee avi have good songs. Aizat too, he can go far.
H: u said you dont like malay songs.
Me: i dont have to like a artists to appreciate a good song.
H: but u said malaysian artists are not impressive.
Me: i said most malaysian artists. Not all.
H: then u should give them a chance.
Me: i can appreciate a good song anytime. Show me and i'll listen. In the mean time, i'll stick to my kpop unless you can show me better.
H: then you should start by listening to sudirman
Me: _¥\{]'£].{,}€*!,]}!€+}!*^,}^%]????????????????

If i sticked to evergreen songs, which have proven the test of time, still doesnt mean that i'd listen to some crappy song currently in the market right?

i had finally the chance to go to FT Island's first solo concert here in Malaysia. They were supposed to have a concert sometime back in 2008, but apparently was screwed by the organizing company, hence it got cancelled. They were also part of the 2011 Korean Music Wave concert, which btw I also managed to attend.
Admittedly, I only knew of FTI because of Hongki. Mainly from the drama you're beautiful which Hongki plays a cute drummer named Jeremy. Also from his association with other celebs like JGS, heechul, Simon d, Kyu and of coz their labelmate, CN Blue. And then there's the Immortal Songs show that Hongki was a part of..
After an amazing performance during KMW, both myself & Elly didn't want to miss a chance of seeing a full-fledge concert by FTI & we were not disappointed. The event was well-organized & started on time. FTI managed to handle the crowd, even with their limited English, without using any help from an MC or interpreter. Hats off to them for being able to communicate well, even if they did stumble at a point. Haha.
Within that 2hour, They managed to serve a whopping 23 powerful songs, with barely a break in between. and when I said powerful, Hongki's voice is totally awesome. Plus he is such an energetic performer & totally at ease on stage. And he actually had a cold and yet he still sounds better live than from the album itself. Now that is what i call true talent.
Surprisingly most of the primadonnas was malay. Totally wasnt expecting that. Even saw some fanboys too, although i was expecting a lil more, given that FTI are more band than an idol group. And the crowd was pretty well behave i'd have to say. Compared to the rowdy Elfs, and loud spoken VIPs we saw at KMW, Pris are a welcome sight.
All in all, it was totally worth our time & money. First time i've ever witness someone who can sings better than their own album. Daebak!!
