Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about publishing houses …
Do you have a favourite publishing house -- one that puts out books that you constantly find yourself wanting to read? If so, who? And, what books have they published that you've loved? (question courtesy of MizB)
I dont think i have a favourite publishing house, nor do i realise my books are coming from which publishing house in the first place.. hahah..these days i just pretty much pick up any books that i fancy, rather than limit myself to specific groups.
However, having said that, back when i was in school, i did used to read a lot of sweet valley high and other similar books.. there's these second hand book stores, a whole row of them, where i'd go get my school references book.. my mum used to tell the "mamak" who runs the store, to go pick up as many "chicken books" as she called them, for me to choose from.. haha.. I think is was Bantam Books, by Random House, if i remember correctly.. my mum can never remember what books it was i was reading, it all looks the same to her.. so she referred to the whole lot of them as "the chicken books" coz it has this red rooster logo on the books. Plus it's easier to explain to the "mamak" rather than trying to get him to pull out all his sweet valley high series or whatever series it was i was reading back then.. :)
Even so, i'd still say i'd normally go with the books rather than the publishing house.. it just that sometimes, the books that i do pick up, happens to comes from the same publishing house.. hey, that was just a coincidence.. *wink*... that is, if i remember to look at who was the publishing house at all..
